Functional and Sculptural Works in Clay
Laurel Smith is an artist and student in Smithville, TN, attending the Appalachian Center for Craft (a part of Tennessee Tech University). My current work focuses on texture and its potential to convey meaning as well as create visual interest. I view ceramics as a cycle; a person gives life to the clay, which then becomes a container to deliver nourishment back to a person (through functional tablewares) or enrich the life of a person (through decorative sculpture).
